Timothy P. Finney, MD received his orthopaedic training at Louisiana State University Medical School. He was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Sports Medicine West in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Finney has worked with high school, intercollegiate, semi-professional, and professional athletics in the Greater New Orleans Area. He was a team physician for the New Orleans Saints football team from 1993 to 2010. He was selected as one of the U.S. Olympic team physicians in 1996.
Dr. Finney received the NFL Team Physician Society’s Outstanding Team Physician of the Year Award for 2005. He has participated in the training of LSU family practice sports medicine fellows and is a clinical professor at LSU. His interests include sports-related injuries and pathology of the shoulder and knee. He has extensive training and experience in total arthroscopic shoulder, rotator cuff, and labral repairs. Dr. Finney performs arthroscopic ACL reconstructions and meniscus repairs on athletes ranging from the Weekend Warrior to the Professional Athlete. He also administers injections of PRP/Stem Cells in the knee and shoulder.
