About Timothy P. Finney, MD
Dr. Timothy Finney specializes in sports-related injuries and conditions affecting the shoulder and knee. He has extensive training and experience in total arthroscopic shoulder, rotator cuff, and labral repairs. He also performs arthroscopic ACL reconstructions and meniscus repairs on athletes ranging from the weekend warrior up to professional-level athletes. He also administers PRP and stem cell injections.
Dr. Finney received his orthopaedic training at Louisiana State University Medical School, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Sports Medicine West in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Throughout his years in practice, Dr. Finney has worked with high school, intercollegiate, semi-professional, and professional athletes in the Greater New Orleans Area. He was a team physician for the New Orleans Saints football team from 1993-2010. He was also selected as one of the U.S. Olympic team physicians in 1996.
Dr. Finney received the NFL Team Physician Society’s Outstanding Team Physician of the Year Award in 2005. He has trained sports medicine fellows at LSU Family Practice and currently serves as a clinical professor at LSU.
